Facts About Dog-Friendly Apartments

Getting ready to move out with your dog? While you may simply search for the nearest available rentals in your area, know that it's not enough. Your pooch should love the place too.

CityDog Magazine

Make your dog feel at home with the right dog-friendly apartment. They specifically cater to pets and pet owners in different ways.

Now before searching for recommendations and asking for referrals, here's a rundown of quick facts about dog-friendly apartments.

These apartments are "dog-friendly" and not "pet-tolerable."

When some dog lovers bring up the question about their beloved pets, some landlords would say, "Oh, don't worry—we tolerate pets," or "Pets are allowed here."

Now because of this, other people thought that pet-friendly and pet-tolerant are the same. You can definitely live in both communities, but we always want the best for Fido. Pet-tolerant apartments may allow dogs, but they don't provide the same comfort and convenience that pet-friendly apartments can.

You need to read and sign a pet agreement.

Apart from you, your pooch is also seen as a tenant. So, you also have to take a look at a pet agreement.

A pet agreement is a rental contract that includes all the terms and conditions that you should agree with and follow as you move out.

Since your dog's comfort and happiness matters, don't hesitate to spend more money on pet fees.

Once you move out, get ready to pay a pet deposit. Now, this may depend on your landlord, but he may ask you to pay a one-time fee for possible clean-up, repair, and maintenance for any damages caused by your dog. Meanwhile, the pet rental fee is a monthly payment included in your total rental cost.

Dog-friendly apartments have dog-centric amenities.

If you ever wondered what are the perks when living in a dog-friendly apartment, you get access to a variety of "pawtastic" amenities. You can bond and spend quality time with your pooch in the dog park. Dog daycare, vet clinics, and grooming centers are also nearby. You may also avail walking services in case you're a busy person in the daytime!

Our canine companions deserve the best things in life. As part of their basic needs, they need a comfortable, convenient home where they feel welcome and loved at all times. It may be costly on your part, but for the sake of Fido's happiness—everything is worth it.
